Anyone can throw a tarp on a roof in good weather. The difference shows two weeks later, after an afternoon thunderstorm with 40 mph gusts. A loose tarp flogs itself to shreds, tears out its fasteners, and lets water right back in.
We install tarps the way Florida weather demands: woven heavy-duty material sized to the damage, edges battened with furring strips, and anchoring placed where it will not create new leaks. When a roof needs to stay protected for months, we will tell you honestly whether shrink wrap roofing is the better tool.

After a major storm we work calls in the order they come in, and we will tell you honestly where you stand rather than promise a time we cannot keep.
It depends on the size of the damaged area, the roof pitch, and how the tarp has to be anchored, so we quote it before any work starts. You will know the number up front, over the phone in most cases. Many homeowners submit the cost as part of their storm damage claim, and our photo documentation supports that.
A properly installed one will. The failures you see, shredded blue plastic flapping a week after a hurricane, come from thin tarps draped loose and weighed down with whatever was on hand. We use heavy woven tarps, batten the edges with furring strips, and anchor into structure so wind cannot get underneath and start working it loose.
Do not wait for an adjuster before protecting the roof. Most policies require you to take reasonable steps to prevent further damage after a loss, and an open roof in Florida rain works against you. We photograph the damage as found before we cover anything, so the adjuster can see exactly what the storm did.
We would rather you did not. A storm-damaged roof hides soft decking, and wet shingles are slick even on a gentle pitch. Falls from roofs after storms injure far more people than the storms themselves. A crew with the right footwear, anchoring, and experience gets it done safely and the tarp actually holds.
A quality tarp install is a bridge measure, typically good for weeks to a few months depending on sun and weather exposure. If your rebuild timeline is longer than that, ask us about shrink wrap roofing, which seals the roof in a continuous heat-welded membrane and lasts much longer than tarp.
